Small hexagon jarThere are many reasons why soy is a preferred ingredient in candles. First of all, soy is conveniently grown on American soil. Though it was originally harvested in China, soy was imported to the U.S. by Samuel Bowen in the year 1765. Throughout the 1800s many experiments were conducted with soy. By 1915, soy was massively grown by American farmers.

Soybeans improve the quality of many other goods besides candles. Soy is also used for milk, curd, sauce, paste and bean sprouts. Wax produced with soy was introduced in the 1990s and soon became known as a natural substitute for paraffin wax in candlemaking.

Soy candles are famous for being clean burning, which is beneficial for people with breathing problems. Soy candles don't leave disturbing black soot in their containers or on walls or carpets.

Soy candles are also remarkably safe. As a liquid, the wax is cooler than paraffin, preventing painful burns if spilled. It is even safe to eat without fragrance and dye, unlike paraffin wax. Paraffin is a petroleum-based product which is toxic and produces unsafe soot while burning. Why not give soy candles a try? It's a natural choice!
